The rate of COVID cases in our county has spiked more rapidly this week than at any time I can remember; literally quadrupled since Sunday and doubled since yesterday. Due to this rise, our Christmas Eve service tonight, and worship this Sunday, will be online only. I am sorry for the inconvenience and hope you and your family will watch online tonight. Please let others know who may not get this message of the change. May you and yours have a safe and Merry Christmas.

Greetings in the Name of Jesus!

As all of us are aware the Omicron-variant of COVID-19 is very much on the rise. Clarke county is averaging about 100 new cases per day, and hospitals are nearing capacity. The Bishop and Cabinet are encouraging churches to follow CDC guidelines in their planning of worship and other events.

The Governance Board met initially regarding the Delta variant in September 2021 to discuss how best to respond to the rise in new cases while continuing to worship and conduct our ministries. Currently, the CDC recommends that all persons wear a face-covering indoors regardless of vaccination status and stay a minimum of 3 feet apart.

We agreed to the following:

  • As there are currently no shelter-in-place guidelines, we will continue to offer both in-person and virtual worship. However, if you can worship virtually, please do so.
  • We respectfully request that all people worshipping in person wear a face-covering. Masks will be available. Please take advantage of the hand sanitizer stations located throughout the sanctuary.
  • Avoid hugging and close physical contact. You already know the drill.
  • Sunday School returns Sunday 9/12 at 9:00 and will be via Zoom only. To join simply click on the link or enter the meeting and passcode on your Zoom client.
